Dear Mister the President,
I am glad to let you know that the 2010 Worlds are scheduled in Guarne (Medellin) /Colombia at
the above mentioned dates.
After the withdrawal of Venezuela’s Federation as by my communication dated March 29, the CIC
looked for another organising country, possibly of the same continent.
I want to thank the Colombian Federation and its President Mr. Alberto Herrera Ayala on behalf of
all the world Roller Speed Skating family for having accepted this important commitment in a so
short time.
The great skills of Colombia’s Federation in organising perfectly big events are a guarantee for the
best result of this World Championship.
Taken into account the great commitment of the Colombian Federation and to show the
extraordinary promotion that Roller Speed Skating has obtained in the entire world, I kindly invite
you in sending one National Team at this event.
CIC biennial General Assembly is scheduled in Medellin/Guarne on October 21. CIC will send you
a circular letter with all organising information in the next days.

Speedskating Weltmeisterschaft (2011) - Jeonju/Südkorea

Die Speedskating Weltmeisterschaft 2011 werden in Südkorea ausgetragen. Um genau zu sein in der Stadt Jeonju, die sich gegen Konkurrenten wie Incheon, Seoul und Anyang durchgesetzt hat.

Einige Erfahrung hat die Stadt mit der Austragung von solchen Events bereits. Jeonju war im Jahr 2005 schon Ausrichter der Asian Roller Skating Championship.
In diesem Zusammenhang der Hinweis auf die Weltmeisterschaft 2010: Diese wird vom 22. – 30. Oktober in Venezuela ausgetragen.

La ciudad de Jeonju acogerá el Campeonato Mundial CIC 2011 de Patinaje de Velocidad

Con el comienzo de esta temporada 2010 y con todo preparado para competiciones nacionales e internacionales, ya se van resolviendo dudas para la próxima temporada 2011.

Una de las principales incógnitas es siempre el Campeonato Mundial CIC de Patinaje de Velocidad, donde en este año se celebrará el Barquisimeto (Venezuela), misma sede que en el año 2003.

En cuanto a la próxima temporada 2011, ya se ha dado a conocer la ciudad sede donde Jeonju en Asia se prepara para la celebración.

Asia es uno de los continentes que está creciendo a pasos agigantados donde en 2005 ya celebró el Mundial en Suzhou, mientras que en 2006 fue Anyang la ciudad que albergo las competiciones mundiales.

Todo apuntaba a que el mundial del 2011 fuera en tierras asiáticas, pero varias eran las candidatas donde Incheon, Seúl y Anyang luchaban por la celebración pero finalmente la ciudad de Jeonju fue la elegida.

La ciudad de Jeonju está ubicada en Corea del Sur contando con una gran pasión por el deporte y en especial por el Patinaje de Velocidad gracias al apoyo de la ciudad que ayudó con la creación de gran infraestructura, además de colaborar en pruebas urbanas.

Jeonju ya fue sede de grandes eventos deportivos en especial celebró el Campeonato Asiático de Patinaje que albergó a todo el colectivo del continente en estas competiciones, donde una vez más el evento fue un éxito.

En cuanto a las conexiones con el país el único inconveniente es que la ciudad de Jeonju no cuenta con aeropuerto local y todos los desplazamientos deberán de ser mediante autopista o por tren. Jeonju está situada a 450 kilómetros de Seúl donde todos los participantes y asistentes del Campeonato Mundial CIC 2011 deberán de aterrizar, para más tarde viajar por autopista 4-5 horas para llegar a la sede, o sino elegir la nueva línea ferroviaria KTX, que te traslada de Seúl a Jeonju en tan solo dos horas de duración.

En cuanto al escenario de las competiciones será totalmente remodelado tanto la Pista como el Circuito para alberga las pruebas y poder soportar una gran afluencia de público ya que el deporte en Asia se vive con más entusiasmo y las instalaciones se llenan.

El Campeonato Mundial CIC 2010 en Barquisimeto cambia de fecha (22 al 30 de Octubre)

El máximo certamen de la temporada para el patinaje mundial cambió su calendario y se disputará del 22 al 30 de Octubre.

Los rumores terminaron de confirmarse hoy cuando el Comité Internacional de Carrera (CIC) presidido por el italiano Roberto Marotta envió un comunicado oficial confirmando el cambio de fecha para el Campeonato Mundial CIC 2010 Junior y Senior que tendrá a la ciudad venezolana de Barquisimeto como sede exclusiva.

Originalmente, el máximo evento de nuestro deporte estaba planificado disputarse del 01 al 10 de Octubre en la ciudad de los crepúsculos pero finalmente la fecha ha sido movida del 22 al 30 del mismo mes modificando esto también la fecha de la última parada de la World Inline Cup en la turística Isla de Margarita.

De acuerdo a la nueva programación, el día 21 de Octubre sellevará a cabo la Asamblea General Ordinaria del Comité Internacional de Carrera mientras que del 22 al 24 se disputarán las competencias de pista, el 25 será día de recuperación para los atletas y del 26 al 28 habrá pruebas de ruta. El día 29 volverán a descansar y el cierre del certamen será el día 30 con las tradicionales pruebas de maratón.

Las competencias de pista y ruta se disputarán en el Complejo Pedro León Torres de la ciudad, el mismo que fue utilizado en la edición de 2003 cuando Barquisimeto reemplazó a último momento con brillante éxito organizativo la sede original de Suzhou (China Popular) por el Virus SARS.

A diferencia de 2003, el Complejo Pedro León Torres sufrirá profundas remodelaciones para volver a recibir a la elite del patinaje mundial siete años más tarde donde se espera la presencia de más de 500 deportistas de unas 60 naciones de todo el Mundo.

La pista de 200 metros será reacondicionada en su totalidad modificando su actual superficie y recubriéndola luego con la pintura homologada de Vesmaco Roller 101 SP mientras que el circuito rutero será reasfaltado y su silueta sufrirá pequeñas modificaciones para mejorar la adherencia de los patinadores en la curva principal del trazado de 400 metros.

Respecto a la World Inline Cup, la temporada 2010 volverá a cerrarse en territorio venezolano como fue en 2009 y la Isla de Margarita será nuevamente el lugar ideal para celebrar el cierre de un año que promete ser el mejor en la historia del circuito profesional. Tras la modificación en el calendario, la WIC de Margarita se disputará el 10 de Octubre, doce días previos al inicio del Camepeonato Mundial en Barquisimeto. Excelentes conexiones aéreas pueden tomarse desde Porlamar -previa escala en Caracas- hasta Barquisimeto.

World Masters Marathon Championships

The 2009 World Master Marathon Championship, formerly scheduled at Chioggia (Venice) has been moved to a different location due to the length of the competition track (4 km) and the short time available, both affecting the best outcome of the event. The Organising Committee has finally selected the track in Teolo, used for the 2007 edition with excellent results and favourable comments from the participants. This is a 8 km track totally closed to traffic, performing some slopes, between mounts Solone and Lonzina, in the Colli Euganei Natural Park. Registrations can be done online on the www.padovagrandprix.it website, at the World Roller Country Marathon page.

Der Traum von Olympia

ajk. Der Weltverband des Rollersports (Firs) ist schon seit geraumer Zeit daran interessiert, für mindestens eine seiner vier Disziplinen (Inlineskating, Rollhockey, Skateboard, Kunstlauf) Olympia-Status zu erhalten. An den Olympischen Spielen 1992 in Barcelona war Rollhockey Demonstrations-Sportart, doch die Firs engagierte sich in der Folge zu wenig, um das Internationale Olympische Komitee (IOK) von dessen Aufnahme ins Olympiaprogramm zu überzeugen. Seit dem Jahr 2000 gelten die Bemühungen der Firs vor allem dem Inlineskating. Die Disziplin ist weltweit verbreitet und wegen ihrer Attraktivität auch beim jüngeren Publikum beliebt.

Am vergangenen Montag bewarb sich eine Delegation um den italienischen Firs-Präsidenten Sabatino Aracu vor der IOK-Exekutive in Lausanne um eine Teilnahme an den Olympischen Spielen 2016. Die Präsentation sei vom IOK-Präsidenten Jacques Rogge als hervorragend bezeichnet worden, hiess es später seitens der Firs euphorisch; von den sechs Mitbewerbern sollen angeblich nur Golf und Rugby ähnlich gute Aussichten auf eine Olympia-Aufnahme haben. Auf diese positiven Nachrichten vom Montag folgte allerdings am Freitag eine enttäuschende Meldung: Der Inline-Marathon vom 28. Juni in Pescara, der als Ersatz für die wegen der Erdbeben in den Abruzzen abgesagten Mediterranean Games hätte stattfinden sollen, wurde aufgrund verschiedener organisatorischer Schwierigkeiten abgesagt. Peinlich daran ist, dass dieser Marathon im Vorfeld als nochmalige Möglichkeit beschworen wurde, bei den Mitgliedern des IOK Eindruck zu schinden. Die kurzfristige Absage zeugt nicht gerade von einer guten Verbandsorganisation.

Nun kann der Rollsport-Weltverband nur noch warten und hoffen. Am 13. August wird die IOK-Exekutive in Berlin die zwei Sportarten bekanntgeben, die an der Vollversammlung am 9. Oktober in Kopenhagen zur Aufnahme vorgeschlagen werden. Ins olympische Programm rückt allerdings nur auf, wer 51 Prozent der Stimmen erhält. Noch steht das Abstimmungsprozedere nicht fest, es ist unklar, ob an der Session über die beiden Kandidaten einzeln oder en bloc abgestimmt wird. 2016 kann es also eine oder zwei neue Sportarten geben - oder keine.

I am glad to communicate you that the 2009 World Roller Speed Skating Championships, junior and senior categories- men and women- on track and on the road are scheduled in:

HAINING CITY ( People's Republic of China)
September 16-27

Haining City locates in Zhejiang Province; 2 hours driving from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and 1 hour driving from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.

Special thanks to the Chinese Roller Skating Association, to the Authorities of Haining and to the Organising Committee for having accepted to organise this event in a so short available time.

I am sure that the Chinese Friends will organise once again unforgettable Worlds for all the athletes who will be lucky in participating at.

With this info, all affiliated Federations may include the participation expenses at this event in their 2009 budget.

I invite all Federations to take part at these World Championships, sure that we shall overcome the 2008 record ( Gijon/Spain) of 57 participating countries.

As you know, the IOC will take a final decision in October 2009 about a possible inclusion of our sport in the 2016 Olympic Program.

We shall invite some IOC Members at our Worlds to show the high athletic level of our sport.

All Federations are kindly requested to participate by supporting the Roller Speed Skating Movement in attaining the Olympic goal.

China y Colombia aspiran por quedarse con la sede del Mundial CIC 2009

Ambas naciones son candidatas para hospedar al máximo certamen de nuestra disciplina en la próxima temporada tras la renuncia de Suiza. China lleva la delantera.

Todavía no hay nada resuelto pero falta muy poco para conocer cual será la próxima sede del Campeonato Mundial CIC 2009 tras la renuncia helvética que sorprendió a todos en el último certamen orbital disputado en la ciudad española de Gijón.

Weinfelden, la nueva capital del patinaje suizo, era la gran anfitriona de máximo evento de nuestra disciplina pero diferencias entre los propios organizadores obligaron a cancelar el certamen en un año clave para la inclusión Olímpica pero enseguida llegaron nuevas opciones.

El Comité Internacional de Course (CIC) comunicó en Gijón la cancelación del certamen y abrió la fase de aplicación para nuevas candidaturas aunque vale tener en cuenta que quien sea elegido tendrá muy poco tiempo para organizar un certamen que cada año convoca a un número mayor de atletas y naciones.

De inmediato China Popular sonó como una gran alternativa gracias al potencial económico y organizativo de la potencia asiática pero luego aparecieron otros candidatos.

Colombia, la gran potencia del patinaje mundial, presentó oficialmente la candidatura de Bogotá como sede para el 2009 tras recibir apoyo oficial por parte del Alcalde del a capital cafetera donde el patinaje es uno de los principales deportes del país. Bogotá no tendría mayores dificultades para organizar un gran certamen en poco tiempo contando con buenos escenarios que solo necesitarían remodelaciones para estar listos en poco tiempo.

Un punto en contra para la candidatura colombiana es que el país organizó el máximo certamen del patinaje mundial el año pasado en Santiago de Cali.

China asoma como el gran candidato para volver a recibir a la elite internacional pero tras los majestuosos Juegos Olímpicos organizados en Beijing, las propias autoridades chinas exigen altos estándares de organización para cualquier evento internacional realizado en su territorio.

Dos ciudades chinas están listas para recibir al Mundial CIC 2009, Haining y la ya famosa Suzhou. Precisamente a la primera viajó el Presidente del CIC, el Dr. Roberto Marotta quien estuvo presenciando el Campeonato Asiático 2008 a fines de octubre pasado donde con notable éxito y profesionalismo organizativo participaron más de 200 atletas de unas 12 naciones de la región marcando un nuevo récord para nuestro deporte.

Haining es una moderna y pujante ciudad ubicada a unos 120 km al sur de Shanghai a orillas del Río Yangtze, el mismo que atraviesa Suzhou pero en el extremo norte. Para recibir al Campeonato Asiático 2008, Haining estrenó un fabuloso patinódromo totalmente cubierto que cuenta con la mas alta tecnología.

Suzhou, ciudad que ya recibió al Mundial CIC en 2005, también asoma como opción para recibir al certamen aunque también se está definiendo su continuidad en la World Inline Cup para la próxima temporada lo cual es sumamente viable.

En las próximas semanas se esperan definiciones finales para conocer cual será la sede del Campeonato Mundial CIC en 2009.

I have pleasure to communicate you that the 2008 World Championship on TRACK , scheduled in Gijon/Spain Sept.4-12, will be the selection for the admittance at the 2009 World Games.

30 men and 30 ladies will be admitted to participate.

The ranking will be made taking into account the best 3 individual results on track competitions, no relay-race.

All gold winners plus 3 men and 3 ladies of the hosting country are automatically admitted to take part at the World Games.

Liebe Inlineskater, liebe Partner und Freunde der IGUANA

Untenstehend finden Sie eine Mitteilung des Schweizerischen Rollsportverbands SRV zur überraschenden Absage der geplanten Speed Skating Weltmeisterschaft 2009 in der Schweiz.

IGUANA legt Wert auf die Feststellung, dass die ursprüngliche Vergabe dieses bedeutenden Sportanlasses an den SRV, wie auch die zwischenzeitlichen Planungen und die schlussendliche Absage ohne Beteiligung der IGUANA erfolgt sind. Für uns waren diese Pläne zu hoch gegriffen; eine Planungsvorgabe von 2.5 Mio. USD sprengt schlicht jede Realität in unserem Inline Sport.

Unmittelbar nachdem wir von der Absage dieser für die Schweizer Inline Community so erstrebenswerten Weltmeisterschaft erfahren haben, nahmen wir mit dem Weltverband FIRS Kontakt auf, um vielleicht doch noch eine Chance auf eine Durchführung eines sportlich hochstehenden Wettbewerbs in einem vertretbaren Rahmen zu erhalten. Wir werden dazu im Rahmen der kommenden Weltmeisterschaften in Gijòn erste Gespräche führen und hoffen, Ihnen in den kommenden Wochen gute Neuigkeiten geben zu können.

Eigene Ziele nicht erreicht - die sogenannten Worlds 09 (WM Speed Skating) werden nicht in der Schweiz stattfinden

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Freunde

Leider müssen wir betroffen mitteilen, dass die Speed Skating World Championships 2009 nicht in der Schweiz durchgeführt werden.

Unsere Ziele waren klar: Wir wollten einen Vertrag mit einer international erfolgreichen Sportagentur unterschreiben. Wir wollten eine Budgetgarantie über 2,5 Mio Dollar (inklusive Bauten) erhalten, und wir setzten uns neben einem neuen WM-Konzept das Ziel, erstmals eine weltweite Medienarbeit zu realisieren.

Offensichtlich waren diese Ziele zu hoch. Nun danken wir an dieser Stelle allen Menschen aus den öffentlichen Ämtern, aus der Politik, aus allen sportpolitischen Gremien und aus der Werbebranche für ihre teilweise ehrenamtlichen Arbeiten und Bemühungen und vor allem für das jetzige Verständnis.

Wir haben uns sehr bemüht, aber eine jetzige Absage hilft den Athleten und dem Sport mehr als ein "Würgen". Wir entschuldigen uns für die Umstände und verbleiben

Dear Mister the President,

the Swiss Federation communicated C.I.C. with deep regret about its impossibility to organise the 2009 Worlds, as just scheduled in Zurich-Weinfelden in September.

Unfortunately, serious difficulties for the availability of a track with standard sizes as well as difficulties in finding an agency for the organisation of the event, are not allowing the organisation by the Swiss Federation.

All this said, I kindly invite all Federations to submit, if interested, their candidature for the organisation of the 2009 Worlds.

The C.I.C. will take into account such bids, by checking:

- the availability of a track with standard sizes, the road circuit and the circuit for the marathon;

- the official commitment of administrative authorities of the hosting town;

- the previous organising experiences;

- the support in offering board and lodging to new developing countries ( 60 persons).

Estimado Senor Presidente:

la Federacion Suiza ha comunicado al C.I.C. con lastima su imposibilidad en organizar los Campeonatos del Mundo 2009, como ya programado en Zurich-Weinfelden en Septiembre.

Desafortunadamente, serias dificultades para la disponibilidad de una pista con tamanos estandar y las dificultades en tener una agencia que se ocupe de la organizacion del evento, no permiten a la Federacion Suiza esta organizacion.

Entonces, invito amablemente a todas las Federaciones a presentar, si interesadas, su candidatura para organizar los Mundiales 2009.

El C.I.C. tendra en consideracion estas candidaturas, controlando:

- la disponibilidad de una pista con medidas estandar, el circuito de ruta y el circuito maraton;

- el empeno oficial de las autoridades administrativas de la ciudad anfitriona;

- las precedentes experiencias de organizacion;

- el apoyo en brindar estadia a las federaciones en via de desarrollo ( 60 personas).

A la espera de su amable pronta respuesta, si posible durante la Asamblea Electiva CIC el 3 de Septiembre de 2008 en Gijon/Espana, aprovecho la ocasion para enviarle mis mejores saludos deportivos,

I have pleasure in communicating you that the 2008 World Masters Marathon Championships are scheduled in Pescara ( Italy) next September 20.

The sports venue alteration, from Zurich to Pescara, is due to the opportunity in giving special relevance to our Sport on the occasion of the test event of Roller Speed Skating that, for the first time, has been included in the official program of the Mediterranean Games.

It is necessary that the Organising Committe of the Games could have the possibility to test facilities and the corresponding location of races and the marathon will be suitable for it......

I am sure that this opportunity will be strategic for further developments of the Olympic Program, above all thanks to the possibility to exploit an organising structure of very high level.

F.I.R.S. and C.I.C. esteemed to make this alteration in order to obtain the best possible coverage for the event and for all the Roller Sports Movement.

F.I.R.S. and C.I.C. thank the Organisers of W.I.C. for having been available in organising the 2008 WMMC and then renounce for the promotion of our sport discipline.

Roller for Olympics by FIRS

Der Traum wird Wirklichkeit. Sollte es am internationalen Skate-Verband liegen, zumindest. "Können wir davon träumen, dann können wir auch daran arbeiten."

Eine neue Identität, eine neue Strategie und ein professionelles Kommunikationskonzept und der 'richtige Mann am richtigen Ort'. Der Vizedirektor der Olympischen Spiele in Turin 2006, Luciano Barra, arbeitet nun für den Internationalen Skateverband (FIRS), um Kontakte mit das IOC zu pflegen und die notwendige Lobbyarbeit zu übernehmen. Dies ist alles Teil und Resultat des Projektes "Rollersports for Olympics by FIRS".













Im Jahr 2009 wird das IOC in Kopenhagen beschliessen, welche Sportarten aus dem Programmen fallen und welche neu aufgenommen werden. Das IOC machte bereits einige Favoriten bekannt. Rollersports ist gut im Rennen. Der Traum beginnt also wieder zu leben. Vor einigen Jahren noch war die Situation ähnlich. Doch damals beschloss das IOC, keine einzige Sportart beizufügen. In jüngster Vergangenheit aber konstatierte der IOC-Präsident, Jacques Rogge, dass die Spiele sexyer und moderner werden müssten. Das war das erste Zeichen. Als das IOC Rollersports dann auch noch auf den ersten Platz setzte, begannen die Glocken bei der FIRS zu läuten. "Das ist unsere Chance."

Ziel des Projektes ist es vor allem, dass die Weltmeisterschaften zu einem perfekten Aushängeschild für den Sport werden. Es wurde ein Kommunikationskonzept aufgestellt, alle Wettkämpfe werden professionell gefilmt und an TV-Sender angeboten. Im Jahr 2008 werden einige IOC-Kongresse stattfinden, wo die FIRS jeweils die Werbetrommel rühren wird. Auch wird ein "Rollerday" organisiert, um "den richtigen Menschen zu zeigen, was möglich ist mit diesem Sport. Auf unserem Weg nach Kopenhagen 2009 wollen wir auf dem Gebiet von Public Relations, der Sichtbarheit und der Promotion hearusstechen", so der FIRS-Präsident Sabatino Aracu. Wir müssen sichtbar sein, und darum müssen wir grösser werden. Mehr nationale Verbände, mehr Mitglieder."

"Dies ist mehr als nur ein Projekt. Das ist ein Lebenstraum, der Wirklichkeit werden kann. Kopenhagen kann uns die Türen für die Olympischen Spiele 2016 öffnen." Es wäre ein Schritt, den der Sport sicher verdienen würde. Alle betroffenen Parteien halten aber noch dem Atem an, hoffend, nicht wieder enttäuscht zu werden.
